| Practice Description: |
I am seeking patients who are particularly interested in their emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual development, not just reducing their suffering. Patients who are interested in expanding their joy, improving their awareness, increasing their risk-taking capacity, and making more thoughtful and conscious choices.
My Ph.D. training was in a combined major of psychology and philosophy. I have over 20 years experience as a masters level and then Ph.D. level psychotherapist. I have extensive training in many western psychological approaches, most particularly cognitive behavioral, existential, and family systems. I have spent over 35 years exploring and training in Eastern psychological approaches to personal growth. I work with adults, adolescents, couples and families.
While most Western psychology aims to restore the patient to “ordinary unhappiness,” many Eastern approaches work to reduce suffering by expanding consciousness and the ability to be mindfully present. In this context, the hope of therapy is not only to restore the patient to normal functioning, but also to increase their capacity for joy, love, and connection.
