| Practice Description: |
My name is Gwen Gruber. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over twenty years experience, treating children, adolescents, and adults. I originally worked in New York City and Long Island in hospital settings, clinics and in private practice.
I have offices in Central Phoenix and in the Scottsdale Airpark. The Phoenix office is right off State Highway 51 at Glendale Ave, and the Scottsdale office, on Scottsdale Road slightly south of Thunderbird Road-near the loop 101. I accept most insurance plans, please look at my services page. I offer a free phone consultation.
I provide a safe and confidential environment where individuals are able to explore their issues. I am down to earth, compassionate and begin at the place where my “clients are at.” I invite my client’s to set the stage of where to begin and together we will figure out which method of treatment is best. Therapy is a collaborative relationship where an individual is able to approach many ways to problem solving.
Some of my specialties include. “harm reduction psychotherapy”, where I work with individuals who are wrestling with issues such as, alcohol and or substance abuse, eating disorders or other emotional issues they want to explore changing. We explore these issues in a non-judgmental way. Working towards making incremental changes. Abstinence is not required in this form of treatment.
Other specialties are working with children, adolescents and adults. I have done extensive research and writing on the impact divorce has on individuals of all ages.
I also work with life transitions as a means of helping people grow and heal during critical and traumatic times in their lives.
I value each person as an individual with his or her own unique histories and experiences that have helped to contribute to who they are as a whole.
Each person comes into the therapeutic experience with a unique set of emotional strengths and weaknesses and together we collaborate or co-author the best method to achieve what you have come to therapy for. We work together in the sessions to help you learn more about yourself and how to become autonomous.
As an individual and a therapist, I believe that for any real change to manifest itself it has to come from within the bounds of the person’s ability to choose and to be honestly motivated to change. As a therapist I serve as a catalyst in empowering my clients to set goals, make decisions and ultimately change.
I believe small changes can make enormous differences in ones life. Please visit my websites www.gwengruber.com. and www.Arizona-Psychotherapy.com
