| Practice Description: |
I believe in assisting my clients in reaching their full potential in life by looking backwards for understanding and living forwards. Part of my approach places emphasis on the influence of past experience on the development of current behaviour, mediated in part through unconscious processes. Also, that previous relationships leave lasting traces which affect self-esteem and may result in maladaptive patterns of behavior. When working with couples my approach involves the understanding of each other's developmental history and working towards a conscious communication that involves empathy, compassion and intimacy.
I also assist young adults with or without disabilities with life coaching. After a thorough assessment, I develop a plan that involves improvement in all areas of life, such as : health and wellness, relationships, ability to manage finances, long and short term goals, and decision making.
My focus is based on acceptance of others, self, and confidence of one's value. I offer an environment and a therapeutic relationship that fosters acceptance, insight, security, forgiveness and ultimately freedom to live a fulfilling life.
I also have experience working with children of divorce, difficulty with bonding and adopted. I have assiteted families in building the bonds of attachment not only with children that were separated from their parents but also that have had difficulty bonding with them. When necessary I evaluate the child in the school and home environment that would include a full assessment of Child's development and further treatment recommendation when necessary.
I am very sensitive to culture differences and I am willing to provide client with Spanish or Portuguese sessions if it increaes the client's comfort level of communicating.
