Profession: Professional Counselor/Therapist
Services: Psychotherapy/Counseling
Practice Description: Are you seeking to strengthen your marriage? Would you like a safe place to work through emotional issues? My goal as a counselor is to help couples communicate so that both are heard, understood, and respected. In the process of counseling, I watch for destructive patterns and unmet needs. I also encourage emotional disclosure to foster reconnection and intimacy. It is my practice to utilize the latest clinical research and methods to move couples from a stance of neglect, criticism, and defensiveness to a place of care, encouragement, and friendship. Some of the most common relationship issues that I see include infidelity, grief, hostility, parenting, depression, addiction, communication, stress, and general life adjustment issues.

Like most other counselors, I strive to work collaboratively, respectfully, and purposefully with my clients and I try to use strategies and techniques that are effective. So, what potentially sets me apart from other professionals?

-First of all, I am a family centered individual who has the privilege of helping clients one day a week. Having a small part-time practice allows me to focus more time and energy into my clients than counselors with full caseloads. It is also easier for me to remember each individual’s stories and issues without confusing them with other clients.

-Secondly, I am in a unique position where I do not need to make a living from my practice. This allows me to see clients because I enjoy it and charge less per session. I understand that counseling can be expensive. Often times insurance companies do not cover marital therapy, limit the number of sessions, or require a mental health diagnosis. Therefore, clients choose to pay for services out-of-pocket. I try to keep my fees affordable for these reasons.

-Lastly, I try to work myself out of a job. I focus on providing the resources, experience, and encouragement clients need to be successful on their own. I do not see the counseling process as a lifetime endeavor, but as a temporary relationship that enables people to eventually move ahead without it.

Finding a counselor that is competent and personable is important when seeking counseling services. Therefore, I offer a free 30 minute consultation to potential clients for the purpose of asking questions and getting to know me before jumping into the process. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please e-mail or give me a call.
