| Practice Description: |
Are you feeling sad, irritable, experiencing sleep difficulties, suffering from headaches, stomach and muscle aches? Are you experiencing high levels of stress due to economic difficulties? Do you find yourself ruminating with negative and self-limiting thoughts about your current and future life conditions, and financial matters at times to the point of despair? Do you find it difficult to make decisions about personal and professional issues, and that those close to you do not understand what you are going through? Do you wish to avoid taking medications unless absolutely necessary? Well, you are not alone. I can help. My goal is to help clients understand their strengths, virtues, and options, allowing them to live a healthier and fulfilling life.
The science of psychotherapy (using evidence-based treatment approaches) and mindfulness training (to develop greater personal awareness), serve to promote emotional and physical health. As you begin to view life with joy and optimism, realizing how to achieve your personal and professional goals, your family and professional lives will improve too. For me, the process of helping others through psychology involves a trusting and caring relationship in which persons may explore their thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and behaviors in a safe environment, characterized by empathy and positive regard, while knowing that one's confidentiality will be protected.
My training and experience has provided me with a rich background in understanding the complexities and dimensions that impact human behavior, enabling me to tailor my services to the unique needs of the individual client. I also have particular expertise in the area of clinical neuropsychology, which is the science of brain behavior relationships. To compliment this foundation, I obtained a postdoctoral master's degree in clinical psychopharmacology, the branch of pharmacology which studies the actions and effects of psychoactive medications and substances. In addition, for a number of years I served as a professor and clinical supervisor for an accredited doctoral program of the American Psychological Association.
