| Practice Description: |
With thirty years of life and clinical experience, I bring compassion, wisdom and a completely non-judgmental attitude to my work. I find the heart in every client and help them to see it, as well. I can quickly and thoroughly understand what has prevented you from "being the person you want to be" and will kindly share that with you. You will help me to know what your vision of your unfettered life looks like and together we will work diligently but soulfully toward that vision.
My experience with trauma also deeply informs my work. Everyone leaves childhood with some degree of trauma, some less, some more. Whatever wounding you have experienced in your early life influences your choices and behavior in your present one. My therapeutic toolbox has within it numerous ways to help you to transform what has been a deficit into an asset. I am EMDR Certified and have been a practitioner for over fifteen years. EMDR is often a life-altering experience.
The Chinese word for Crisis consists of two characters—danger and opportunity. The following quote best describes the philosophy behind my work and outside my door: "There is always danger in crisis. However, great blessings lie ahead for the one who can see the opportunity that exists within each crisis." Your crisis is a gift—the pain within it will hopefully encourage you to look deeper. My hope for you is that you find a therapist who will help you to recognize, not only the benefits contained in your crisis, but also the meaning behind it as well as the possibilities it contains.
Please see the "endnotes" for a bit more about me and for quotes from a few of my former clients.
Best of luck, Gail P. Hunt, LCSW, BCD Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work

I am one block below the CLAREMONT HOTEL, NEAR PEETS COFFEE AND RICK AND ANN'S RESTAURANT.
FROM 580 EAST OR WEST: Get off at Ashby Avenue. Stay on Ashby almost to the top, past Telegraph, College and finally, Claremont Avenues. Just past Claremont, Avenue, you will see a Coast Gas Station, followed by a Parking Lot on your left. Turn into the parking lot.
EXPANDED DIRECTIONS: My office is directly across the street from that lot, just below the Chevron Station. The building does not face the street. Look for a vine covered archway. Walk under the archway to the front door. Follow signs to Waiting Room and turn on the light corresponding to "HUNT". I will come down to find you at our scheduled appointment time.
FROM HIGHWAY 24 EAST: Get off at Claremont Avenue. Follow Claremont to the Intersection at Ashby Avenue. Turn right onto Ashby, then left into the Parking Lot. Follow expanded directions, above.
FROM HIGHWAY 24 WEST: Take Tunnel Road, which is the first exit as you emerge from the Caldecot Tunnel., Follow Tunnel Road as it climbs up a short hill. You will arrive at a Traffic Light. Take the slight left turn to come down Ashby Avenue. You will pass the Claremont Hotel on your right. The next light is Domingo. Just after passing Domingo, turn into the parking lot on your right hand side. Follow expanded directions, above.

Thank you for taking the time to view my profile. Please do shop for a therapist. This is a very important decision and the right therapist truly can make a difference. Feel free to call me, even just to ask what to look for in a quality therapist.
I thought I would share with you some excerpts from cards I have received over the years from clients. Perhaps their comments will give you another view of who I am and of how I work. (Names have been changed for obvious reasons)
"Dear Gail, Thank you for all your wonderful help. Ken and I have found the relationship we were looking for. You gave us the tools to deal with our problems and to see them in a different way...We both feel so much more alive...We will call if we ever need a 'tune-up.' "
"...When I first came, I didn't know what was wrong with me. I just knew that I felt hurt or angry in most of my relationships...You helped me understand what was wrong and the EMDR we did has changed my life! Thank you for unraveling this mystery and for "holding onto the hope when I couldn't". Every time you said that, it helped. Keep your fingers crossed for me and Colin–but I also have my own hope now! Thanks again."
"Dear Gail, I just wanted to thank you for saving my life. I thought I was destined to always feel empty and sad. From the first time I saw you, I had a feeling that this time might be different...You know how much has changed but I just wanted to tell you that I thank God every night for bringing you into my life." |
