| Practice Description: |
In this rapidly changing world, it is often difficult to find balance between external expectations and our own needs. I am committed to collaborating with clients to find ways to successfully make room for both. My approach to treatment is to appreciate each person as a unique individual living with their own set of circumstances that impact their functioning. My own personal experiences as an Asian American (Korean American) woman have fostered my understanding and respect for each client’s subjective perspective and experiences. I consider various facets, such as age, gender, ethnic and cultural background, family history, sexuality, religion, socio-economic background, medical history, and educational history in constructing each client’s narrative. Personal stories help inform how I work with each client to help promote progress and growth. I view psychotherapy as a collaborative and dynamic experience that promotes insight, change, and growth. I see my role as a guide to help clients explore themselves and their lives in an open and non-judgmental manner to help foster healthier relationships with themselves and others.
I am a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania and obtained my Psy.D. at the Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology at the University of Hartford. I am a member of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association. Currently, I am working full time in private practice and work with clients who present a variety of issues and difficulties, including depressive and anxiety disorders, grief and loss, cultural and acculturation issues, relationship issues, identity conflicts, trauma, and child abuse histories (physical, sexual, emotional/psychological).
