| Practice Description: |
PsychSource has described Dr. Twining as a warm, highly engaged psychologist who enjoys working with newcomers to therapy as well as people who have sought treatment before and found it lacking. She has a deep respect for the courage demonstrated by individuals and couples who come to therapy seeking self-knowledge and better relationships, as well as those wishing to chart a more rewarding direction in life. Her sessions are known to be lively and participatory, and her capacity for empathy is legendary.
Dr. Twining has been a therapist for over thirty years. She completed several years study of psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis before being appointed faculty and, later, dean of her post-graduate institute. She has a special interest in working with people in the creative arts. Her practice typically includes couples, working artists, professionals (who appreciate her evening availability), as well as individuals in the medical and mental heath fields. Her research on what makes psychotherapy work has been published in the most prestigious journal in her field and has been presented at international psychotherapy conferences.
Dr. Twining maintains offices in the Flatiron District of Manhattan and in the Park Slope/Prospect Heights area of Brooklyn.
