| Practice Description: |
In my way of working with you, I lay my personal issues aside for our time together and permit my internal responses to fall into an accurate resonance with your emotional state. This is commonly called empathy, but psychologists often refer to it as an"informative empathic response" because the way we use it, it offers a pretty clear window into your personal experience. When I put this together with my formal training in psychology, I am then able to begin to reflect on what might be wrong; to sense "how" you're hurting.
As our work proceeds, the therapy hour becomes an emotionally safe space for you to expand your internal world and begin finally to make sense of difficult feelings. Old compulsions then come to have less power over you as a new way of being emerges.
I maintain my office in a comfortable residential-style setting in northwest Oklahoma City. I generally work in 55-minute sessions once or twice weekly during afternoon and evening hours.

| Additional Comments: |
The single most precious gift we possess is our human self-awareness; it holds our potential for pleasure, for love and for meaningful work. Emotional problems can rob us of this potential and lock us in a sort of experiential darkness. As a therapist, I gently assist others on the difficult and very personal journey from pain into self-awareness and greater personal freedom. |
