Practice Description: I offer a variety of counseling services for all ages. My therapeutic style could be described as intuitive, empathic, friendly - and interested. Although sessions are informal and conversational, I will stay "in the trenches" with you to provide support during confusing or challenging times. Beyond support, my mission is to empower and uplift by facilitating self-awareness, fostering self-acceptance, and celebrating self-expression. To that end, I am committed to my own spiritual practice, personal authenticity and self-care. I also draw upon the wisdom of a multitude of systems including the enneagram and the teachings of various Masters.

For nearly 20 years, I have successfully treated stress, anxiety, depression, phobias, post-traumatic stress, and depression, among other problems, utilizing EMDR, cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic approaches. EMDR (or eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is a reprocessing therapy in which the left and right hemispheres of the brain are stimulated alternatively by eye movements, sound, and physical taps. What makes this treatment remarkable is the ease with which traumatic content and emotional patterning is cleared and well-being is restored. Some people also report transcendent experiences.

Children, adolescents, and their families are another important focus. My tools include sand play therapy, family therapy, and parenting education. Sand play therapy is a projective art technique which helps children (and adults) work out emotional issues non-verbally by placing small figures and objects in a "sand tray". It is my particular joy to work with the "inner children" of all ages that come to see me!

Office sessions and phone sessions are available. I a a participating provider on most insurance panels, and many employee assistance plans.. Please note that I previously have had offices in Sacramento, Nevada, Shasta, and Siskiyou counties.
