"People come to talk with me and share their concerns, troubles, and suffering. People tell me their "story”; what hurts, what’s missing, where they are stuck in life, and what they hope to change. They intend to find a way to resolve some kind of psychological pain. My intention is to quickly and accurately assess the situation. I listen very carefully as the client creates a picture in my mind of what life looks and feels like from their point of view."
"I believe people need and want to be understood; need to feel unique and meaningfully connected to others; need to belong and feel welcome, need to determine one's life and need to feel competent and valued. People come into therapy to find a place where they can gather innate strength to live a full and meaningful life. In partnership I work to help people alleviate psychological suffering to restore hope and confidence. We work together on trying to figure out the problem and possible solutions. It is a mutual decision making process."
