| Practice Description: |
I have a dual specialization in Adult as well as Child/Adolescent psychology, with 3 areas of postdoctoral training/certification in Adult, Child/Adolescent and Group therapy. I also have had extensive training in couples/marital counseling. In addition to practicing as a psychotherapist and psychoanalyst, I also serve on the faculties of Rush University Medical School/Medical Center and the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis where I train residents, postdoctoral students and students who are interested in honing their skills in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. In addition, I have published numerous papers as well as 3 co-edited books, and also frequently present papers at national and international professional meetings. Thus, I not only provide treatment, but train others in my field.
My practice philosophy is as follows: I believe that psychotherapy is a collaborative process that is tailored to fit the patient's needs. The process of change and development occurs optimally in the context of an empathic therapeutic alliance. My areas of specialization include: depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, identity confusion and problems of unfulfilled development. I believe that effective treatment involves a process in which doctor an patient work together both to understand current problematic patterns and to facilitate new ways of being and relating.
