| Practice Description: |
I believe that people are naturally resilient--therapy is an opportunity to enhance that resiliency by building awareness and finding greater strength and fulfillment. Most of us have found ways of coping with stresses and conflict. Sometimes what has worked in the past is no longer effective. Understanding the dynamic interplay between internal and external forces creates windows for change and growth. I hope to create a space where clients can non-critically observe, explore, reflect, and become "unstuck." Together we can work toward improved flexibility, enhanced capacity for self-regulation, and expanded range of choices for problem solution.
I work with adults, including couples, adolescents, and children. My approach to working with couples is to encourage alternative ways of responding to one another to repair injury and restore equilibrium. With adolescents and children, I typically have conjoint sessions to facilitate more effective dialogue with parents. My experience in school-based assessment and consultation provides a solid base for coordination with school personnel, if that is beneficial.
I practice in an interdisciplinary setting which includes psychiatric, pharmacological, clinical social work, and art therapy services; a unique feature of the practice is the high level of consultation among clinicians. If you want help with a referral to find what you are looking for, I am happy to assist you in identifying possible resources.
