| Practice Description: |
Hello! My name is Carol Cann, and I provide counseling to individuals and couples who want to change their lives and relationships.
Counseling is a Partnership: With experience and training in several schools of therapy, I focus my skills on your needs and concerns to help facilitate positive and lasting changes in your life. Good therapy allows you to change your negative or unproductive thoughts and habits into new and more beneficial attitudes and actions. We will look at ways that your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors affect your life and examine how you might choose to alter them for the better.
Counseling is an Active Process: Your dedication, feedback, questions, and dynamic participation all contribute to your achieving the most positive and satisfying outcome to your goals.
Some reasons people come to see me include: Depression Anxiety Communication issues Problem solving in seemingly-unmanageable life situations Marriage or relationship problems Low self-esteem Recurring patterns of self-defeating behaviors Support in alcohol and/or addiction recovery Support and education for family members of people with chronic mental illness
If you're searching for a therapist, you might be feeling troubled, overwhelmed, or angry and looking for help. Whatever your concerns, I'd like to work with you to help you change your life and resolve the pain that has led you here.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor with over 25 years experience in private practice and community mental health.
My master's degree is in psychology, and I have extensive training and experience in psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, client-centered, and existential theory and psychotherapy. You will find me to be an active and dedicated advocate who brings curiosity, empathy and a sprinkling of humor to a deep reserve of resources: problem-solving skills, cognitive-behavioral techniques, family systems theory, insight-oriented therapy, and addiction treatment.

**NEW GROUP! Conquering Codependence**
*Have you noticed that the opinions of others are more important to you than your own? *Are you uncomfortable expressing your true feelings to significant others? *Do you feel a burdensome sense of responsibility for the actions of others? *Are you involved with someone who has alcohol and/or drug problems? Someone who belittles or physically harms you? A new psycho-educational & supportive group is forming soon for adults who find themselves answering "yes" to the above questions. This group will be facilitated by Carol R Cann, MA, LCPC, CADC, a psychotherapist and alcohol/drug counselor with over 25 years experience in group settings. Please contact me by phone (847-606-3046) or email (Carol@CarolCannCounseling.com) for further details; I will be happy to call you back, answer questions, and discuss the group in more detail. |
