| Practice Description: |
I find that sometimes depression and anxiety can become so overwhelming to many of us that it may grow difficult to imagine ever overcoming personal obstacles and improving one's quality of life. Within the therapeutic environment, I work toward clearing a path by empowering my clients to voice their concerns and, in turn, receive my perspective which is one of a trained clinician who is not directly involved or blinded by their personal stressors. I believe in establishing collaborative partnerships with individuals, couples and families within a therapeutic environment comprised of empathy, safety and unconditional acceptance.
I have worked in a variety of settings with several different populations. In addition to private practice, I am currently employed as a University Psychologist at Florida International University where I provide clinical services to the student body. I am involved in the training of prospective psychologist as a Clinical Supervisor in the internship program. In addition, I teach several Master’s-level courses (approximately two a semester) in the Department of Psychology as an Adjunct Faculty member. In private practice, I have experience in the areas of individual, couples, and family therapy as well as in conducting psychoeducational evaluations for children and adolescents who are experiencing academic difficulty.
