| Practice Description: |
I actively and empathically foster a collaborative alliance with clients. I provide focus and support as we work together to increase your self-awareness and identify very specific strategies to help you create a more meaningful and fulfilling life. As part of this process, I help you to distinguish which thoughts and feelings to trust and embrace, and to effectively manage those that may only inhibit you from living authentically. I draw on thirty years of clinical experience with varied populations in inpatient and outpatient settings.
My approach is eclectic, reflecting a variety of well researched theories that are most relevant to your specific needs and concerns. I provide treatment that helps foster strengths such as resilience, self-soothing, frustration tolerance, and personal character strengths. I emphasize an integration of mind and body in my approach.
I emphasize key aspects of positive psychology with clients; identifying and maximizing personal strengths, an emphasis of developing insights and skills that foster resilience, frustration tolerance, emotional intelligence, and compassion (and self-compassion).
I am especially knowledgeable in treatment of anger, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and motivation. Author - Healthy Anger: How to help children and teens manage their anger (2003), Co-author- New Hope for People with Bipolar Disorder (2000; 2007, 2nd edition), and Unlock Your Creative Genius (Nov., 2006).
In addition to the treatment areas described, I also am experienced and knowledgeable in providing treatment and consultation regarding enhancing creativity (see www.tounlockyourcreativegenius.com)
