As a Somatic Counselor, I draw on an understanding of how our thoughts and emotions are profoundly intertwined with our physiology. Using a family systems and communications lens from over 10+ years as a lifespan language educator and counselor, I practice constructivist therapy, focusing on the behavioral narrative of children, couples, and families.
I'm passionate about helping people gently hear what their behavior patterns might want to communicate, so underlying needs can be met, allowing behavior to change. In my view, there is nothing that is not communicated. Whether or not it is verbalized is another question entirely.
By getting curious about what's happening inside through experiential activities such as play therapy, art, sandtray, Hakomi methods, constellation work, etc. supported by verbal sense-making for adolescents and adults, it becomes possible to explore a different outcome. New experiences teach our brain new habits, to improve relationships with those we love.
Particularly for those with speech difficulties, I also provide a specialized treatment approach, expanding the expressive range, potentially impacted by significant early life challenges or chronic stress.
