| Practice Description: |
I believe that therapy is a time to explore and to heal. It is a time to explore old ways of functioning that no longer serve one’s best interest and a time to heal areas of life that need attention and care. Ultimately, therapy is a time to appreciate and celebrate strengths, to discover one’s authentic self, and to gain clarity about life. Making the decision to pursue therapy can be difficult and following through is often more challenging. However, taking these steps can be empowering in that support and new possibilities are close at hand.
If you're feeling dissatisfied in some way with life or your relationships; enduring a difficult life transition; feeling more stressed out than you'd like and/or tired of old destructive patterns that continue to pop up, then therapy can be an effective way to deal with these and other similar situations. The first step is to make contact with a therapist with whom you feel comfortable in sharing your experiences and perspectives. I believe this to be the cornerstone of effective therapy. A positive, trusting, and emotionally safe relationship with one's therapist is tremendously important when dealing with difficult and personal material. I work hard to understand my clients' lives and what is important to them.
I create a therapeutic environment that is collaborative, thought provoking, and insightful. Together, we can work toward your personalized treatment goals and toward creating an increased sense of self-awareness as you move forward in life. Therapy can lead to a increased understanding of difficult areas in life, relationships, or within ourselves. Even if positive feelings are slow to emerge or they come and go, those beginning feelings of strength and clarity assist clients in understanding their situation and contributing factors.
I specialize in assisting clients with a range of issues including depression, grief and loss, family relations/dynamics, self-esteem, and relationship difficulties.
